Yep. Senator Steve Fielding has opened his mouth again.
*yawn*
Oh, don’t get me wrong. I think he’s a complete fuckwit and what he’s said is completely abhorrent. However, as Labor Senator Ursula Stevens said:
“The notion that someone would for the purposes of receiving the baby bonus or paid parental leave would proceed to a post 20-week pregnancy and then procure an abortion for that purposes is really the most incongruous thing that anyone might consider could happen”.
Purpose purpose porpoise. Ahem.
Anyway, you know Senator Fielding is a walking headline. You know that he’s essentially using propaganda, and I quote from my second year social psychology text (shut up, you Ivory Tower Elite who already have post-graduate degrees), “An example of persuasive attempt that is extremely propagandistic would be a deliberately deceptive presentation that promotes idealogy.” (Breckler, Olsen & Wiggins, 2010)
Minority groups that stay firm in their ideals, no matter how ludicrous, will always undermine public opinion because of that very technique. The second we get angry and pay attention, he gets in the papers and the less well informed individuals of this nation start to believe it’s the truth.
He’s a stupid cunt. You know it, and I know it. If you want to get rid of him, do as Lisa Simpson says when they are trying to destroy the advertisements that have come to life, “Just don’t look! Just don’t look!”
Pay him no mind. He’ll keep raving and flailing about, and the less attention we pay to him, the more stupid he looks.

You choosing to refer to Steve Fielding as “a stupid cunt” is perhaps ill considered for some one with a feminist ideas.

BUWAHAHAHAHA!! Oh dear, Iain. Did you really just say that?
I’ve called people arsehole before, and I’ve got one of them, too. Where should my feminist ideals lie with that issue?

I gather that you are familiar with the feminist argument about using the word “cunt” as a derisive descriptor?
